"I was a speaker at Ireland’s National Women’s Enterprise Day 2020, the first online NWED.
After the event, I received the most beautiful thank you gift from the organisers. It had clearly been carefully chosen, given the overall theme of the event and my talk which was about overcoming our fears to embrace opportunity. It was a framed print of a hummingbird with the inscription ‘With brave wings she flies’, produced by the supremely talented @bredamarron . Suffice to say it generated some goosebumps and a small drop of gratitude in my eye for the opportunity to speak at the event and the lovely professionals and business owners I met throughout the event.
In fact, it inspired a total revamp of my office because it required a nicer backdrop than my blue-tac pock-marked office wall. I selected a colour from the print and now it hangs directly in my line of sight from my desk. In keeping with feng shui it’s beside the door to inspire me to go out in the world with my ‘brave wings’. It’s a gift I will treasure always – for its beauty in its own right, for the lovely memories it minds so safely and for the encouragement it gives me every time I look at it.
